Haines, Alaska

With a population approximately 2000, Haines qualifies as a “small town”. But honestly, it’s more than that. It’s simply an awesome small town.

Haines is also often called the Adventure Capital of Alaska. Visitors and residents alike enjoy all kinds of fun stuff, rafting the Chilkat River, heli-skiing the Takshanuk and Chilkat Mountains outside of town, or exploring the region on foot.

For me, photographing the most famous of resident, the American Bald Eagle is what brings me here most often.

Haines is also home to a surprisingly large community of artist. What small town of 2000 people do you know of with over 20 published authors residing there? it’s a vibrant little town that I fall a little deeper in love with every time I return.
