Expeditions Alaska is a backpacking guide service, offering backpacking and hiking trips, photo tours and more, in the remote wilderness of Alaska. Our adventure travel trips take us to some of the most spectacular regions in North America; in Alaska, we visit Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, Gates of the Arctic National Park, the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Katmai National Park and Preserve and the Kenai Peninsula.
These trips are backcountry backpacking and hiking excursions, with no 'technical climbing' involved. More than a decade of experience mountain guiding and trip leadership means I provide you with outstanding service, for backpackers and hikers of all levels.
Beginners are definitely welcome, and backpacking trips are typically tailored to suit clients needs. From a lazy couple of days basecamping and hiking and exploring the surrounding region to more strenuous hikes backpacking over rugged and remote terrain, just about everything you could want to experience is covered. Most trips involve bush plane flights into areas otherwise inaccessible. We make every effort to keep group numbers small to provide you with the very best possible adventure.
For your security and peace of mind, Expeditions Alaska is a licensed business with the Alaska Department of Community and Business Development (lic. # 719206). Expeditions Alaska always has the necessary insurance and permits to operate inside the various National Parks and Refuges we visit.
Expeditions Alaska is also a member of AWRTA, the Alaska Wilderness Recreation & Tourism Association, a "nonprofit membership organization representing nature-based Alaska tourism businesses, individuals, and organizations who support sustainable tourism".
Certified Gold Standard by Adventure Green Alaska, Expeditions Alaska and Owner Carl Donohue are also members of national and international professional organizations such as the North American Nature Photographers Association, Sustainable Travel International, Mtnguide.org, and partners with outdoor gear leaders like Arcteryx and Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear.
