Hey Folks,

Wow, what a great response to this; I so appreciate everyone taking the time to enter, and especially those who shared the offer around the web. Thanks so much.

So, to cut to the chase, I’ll announce the folks who were drawn here:

1) Adam Wolf/Christina Smith

2) Patsy Lascha/Charles Fry

Update: Feb 14, 2012. Unfortunately, the above folks had to cancel. I drew names again, and the following people are confirmed and heading up to visit next month:

Ryan Wright, Paul Robison, Jim Wheeler and Doug Garnhart. It should be a blast and I look forward to meeting all these folks.

It was so cool to hear from people with such a clear passion for the great outdoors and particularly for Alaska. This is definitely a special place, and it’s great to see so many people who are attuned to that.

And that’s it. I’ll try to persuade them to maybe send me a photo so I can post it here and you’ll all get to see who these people are. And we’ll definitely have some photos and videos with a full trip report posted in March.

Thanks so much, and I really wish you all a great year for 2012.

Cheers

Carl

PS: Edit, 4pm – Folks, I’ve had a few people email me and ask about an opportunity to book a trip like this as a regular trip. If anyone is interested, please let me know. If we can get a group together, 3 minimum, we can run a trip for about $1000.00 p.p.

Darn! Oh well, I’ll try again next year. (Because you’ll offer this again next year, right Carl?) Congratulations to Adam, Christina, Patsy and Charles. Have fun!

  2. Congrats to the winners! You will be out there in the best location with the best guide. Can’t beat that combination :).

    Carl,
Hope you have a wonderful 2012 as well!

    Cheers!

Thankfully I didn’t win. I don’t know what kind of hoops I would have had to jump through on fire to make that happen in March. Whew! Dodged a bullet there. Congrats to the winners. I’ll lay on my son’s tramp in the backyard and look at the stars in the far North hopeful of a glimpse of the aurora and dreaming of the silence of a peaceful winter’s night where you will be.

Just as well that I didn’t win. I don’t have the clothes for the cold Alaskan winters, but had I won I probably would have tried to gear up. Also, the complex tear on my medial meniscus, which I’m hoping to heal with PRP therapy, probably wouldn’t do well on snow shoes or skis. Hopefully, I can do another trip with Carl in the future. Congratulations to the winners.

Congratulations to the winners. You will have a great time with Carl. For all the also rans, is there anyone out there who would be interested in asking Carl to do a similar trip that we would pay for. I would be very interested. I will round up the money for this because this is a wonderful opportunity that would be hard to pass up. If interested, let’s get together and ask Carl if he would do this. STILL hoping to do this trip. Can’t give up.

Congratulations to all of the winners! What an amazing opportunity! I hope that you all will be sharing pictures from the adventures that you go on! I would be interested in participating in a trip like this for 2013. We already have two big trips scheduled out. Thank you again for the opportunity!
