Hey folks,
A little known fact, but an important one. Particularly if you’re a penguin.
“Arktos” is an an ancient Greek word for “bear”.
“Arctic” is a reference to bear.
Polar bears, black bears and brown bears/grizzly bears can all be found living in the Arctic. i.e., in the northern hemisphere.
On the other hand, in the southern hemisphere equivalent there are no bears. Hence, we call it the “Antarctic”, or “Anti-arctic”.
That’s how awesome bears are.
Remember
… polar bears are in
. Penguins are in the .. because if they lived in the Arctic, bears would eat them.Wanna come see polar bears this fall?
Cheers
Carl
Oh, and if you like polar bears, guess how heavy they are?
